ENTERTAINMENTS.

—;■■ THE VIOLET DANDIES. Last night the Violet Dandies gaf* another very enjoyable program**, and that it was greatly appreciated Wa» evident from the large number of en» cores to which the company obligingly responded. After the opening ehoru», which was bright and sparkling, tier* was a trio, "John Bull's Budget?' excellently rendered. Miss Kate Checked then gavo "Carissima" in faultless style, the encore being "Love's Echo." lit Oswald Browne followed with "Meet Me To-night," his substituted number being "Yiddle on our Fiddle," a marked feature of his fine singing being his perfeet enunciation. Mr. Cuthbert Hose's contributions were "My Dictionary," "Clarionet and I," "The Mayor," "If the Missis," and "CrUßty Old Chap," all of which were given in his inimitably droll style, causing great laughter. Mils Shirley Cooke again scored a great success with her solos, "Glimmer Little Night, light," and "Sometimes," and In the duets with Mr. add ■ "Because You're You." Mesirr tJolUthv Mid Browne were most amusing in "Where did you Got that Girl," and a parody of "Excelsior" (X.L.C.R.). Mr. Howard Hall gave a fine rendering i)f "A Chip of the Old Block,' and MUs Dorothy Gardner, the comniedienH*, astonished those present by her rafe elocutionary powers (especially in "The Yellow God"), her quaint imitations, and her clever singing. The gem of tie evening was Mr. George Brooke's pathetic and faultless rendering of "Mother Macrcc," the encore to which was an equally artistic effort in th.o; song, "Somewhere a Voice is Calling." All the concerted items were well given, aijd the company deserves the highest praise for the clever and finished manner In which they gave , all their Items. They are exceedingly fortunate in having such an ideal pianist As Mr. E. Clthllf, whose work greatly contributed to tie success of the Violet Dandies.
