Wellington, August 10. The annual meeting of the Wellington Meat Export Company was held today. Mr. W. (!. Foster presiding. In moving the adoption of the report snd balant'e-sheet. the chairman described tiho result of the business of the year as satisfactory; in fact, the yeaiiad been a " fat' one. Referring to the unsold stocks, at June SO, 1014, the chairman remarked that the market conditions then were somewhat uncertain, and, in consequence, the board considered that very conservative, valuations should prevail, and so preclude disappointment. In the ordinary course satisfactory surpluses over draft values were conlidently exceeded as the result, c.f war conditions, which, had it been possible to foresee, would have obviated, the appropriation from the dividend equalisation reserve of the half vc.ir's dividend: £4320 was so taken. Tliis re-erve was established for specific purposes, .and the directors considered it desirable by this c-otirae to mark it as a "lean" year, rather than anticipate ascertained surpluses. The company's assets during its existence by depreciation appropriations bad been written down from £371,14S to £171.132, or nearly 50 per cent. The reserve funds, apart, from the £OlOl carried forward, aggregated £85,231. With such substantial additions to the reserve it was felt that it was due to shareholders to supplement the usual dividend on share capital by way of a bonus of £2 per cent. This was more strongly recommended in that unsold stocks were again valued conservatively, in view of any abnormal decline in values, which might clique as a consequence of the war. The report and balance-sheet were unanimously adopted. Mr. llott, in seconding the suggestion of Mr. A. E. Mabin, said that the appropriation to the war fund or other patriotic, purposes should he left in the hands of the directors. Reference was made to the strenuous year experienced, by' the stall' and employees generally, and the gratitude of the .shareholders was dulv acknowledged. Mr. I''. 1). S'addcn (secretary) replied on behalf of the staff.

Messrs. J. Campion and E. Xewman were re-elected directors, and the directors' remuneration was fixed at tjie previous, rate. , Messrs. 0. S. Watkins, E. W. Hunt and W. S. Wheeler were elected auditors. XEW (PLYMOUTH HIDE. WOOL', SKIX AND TALLOW SALE. Messrs L. A. Xolan and Co. report: On Tuesday, July 27, wc held our fourweekly sale of the above.
