Ollicial.—The enemy, supported by heavy artillery, twice attacked the Plava section, but were repulsed, our guns silencing the Austrian butt cries. -In lighting on the Carso plateau we -appreciably progressed, particularly ill the centre, where we capture;! a portion of a depression leading to Doberdo. The enemy's artillery threw: incendiary shells into Monfaleone dockyard, causing a great lire. Though, by a curtain of shrapnel, they attempted to prevent us from extinguishing it,, we succeeded, and the damage was restricted. TENSION WITH TURKEY. Rome, August S.
