" WO MUX," AT THEATRE ROYAL, 'i lie star picture at the Theatre Royal last night was a strong drama, entitled Woman," wliich filled the second half ,of the programme. The first half comprised an entertaining (selection of pic*' tures, including scenic, comic and drfcmas. " Woman " is the life Story of a, •society princess, and tlie picture fi crowded with dramatic events. Not only do all the episodes, which follow in quick succession, maintain ah absorbing story of moving interest, bat much value is added to the picture "by 'the fact that the scenes are laid in 'brilliantly picturesque surroundings. Scent* in a gorgeous /palace, glimpses amidst tlie joys and troubles of Monte Carlo, pictures of beautiful southern 'French towns, are a few of the features of tlii film that alone make it a thoroughly 104 teresting picture, and when it i« added that few stories embrace so many situations, which arc remarkably -woju faded, it will he seen that " WomanV can jusitly claim to be one of the flnen pictorial dramas seen in New Plymouth; The story is a simple one. Jealousy en] ters tlie lives of a Prince and Princesai , and changes the course of their h&ppi] , lie,3s. They agree to separate, but there is a child, and she offers fcbe remaining link to prevent complete dissolution, Th? iPrincess (becomes friendly with aii actor] and a purely friendly deed by the PriaJ cess towards the actor 'becomes tni&conf strued into one of misbehaviour, witlf Uie result that the Princess loses tody of the child. She goes away with' the actor to Monte Carlo, where tW actor loses all Ills money and finally tha iPrincefes goes away seeking an interview* with her child. Intrigue becomes com* plicated with intrigue, and separate! the Princess further from her child, leav. ing her friendless and broken. After she has gone deeper into a sorry life—j a life (bristling with powerful situations] which compel one to follow tlie stort with unusual interest—the tide of fori tune turns in favor of the Princess, fott truth comes out toshow that the little Incident with the actor was seen in A Maswl light, and the husband, finding that he had misinterpreted his Wife's aol tions, returns to mend the broken chajnl and the story ends as all good dranuUß should end.
