OFFICIAL REPORTS, The following report;; wort 1 submitted to tlic New IPlymoutli Borough Council last night and were adopted: ENGINEER'S REPORT. Tramway Route.—Formation and metalling of St. Aubyn Street, South Road and Moturoa Road is completed on the southern side of the tram track, from six eltaina westward of Bayly Road to Queen Street, and both sides of St. Aubyn Street from Queen Street to Egrnont Street. Formation and metalling of Devon Street Central and Egmont Street is now being done. A second coat of soltar is toeing applied below the junction of South and Moturoa Roads. New soltar spraying machine is completed, but the required hose has not yet been procured. Automatic gates at the intake have been in use for about one week and are answering admirably. Building permits issued represented a total value of £OBll. BOROUGH FOREMAN'S REPORT. Morlev Street from Devon Street to Powderham Street, Powderham Street from ilcrley Street to ,Mount Edgecombe Street., also short length in Powderham Street from Rotoe Street towards Brougham Street. Also metalling portions of Gill and Liardet Streets with spoil from tram track, and patching various street in town with crusher metal. Lowered storm water culvert under tram track in Devon and Liardet Streets. Formed and screened footpath in Belt Road and Wallace Place, also footpath in Hig'li Street and in Fillis Street. Cleaned 1 ' water-tables and screened various'footpaths about town. Three drainage connections 'have been put in. Approximately 125S yards of boulders have been crushed. Caretaker at water works reported everything satis factory at filters and intake. ELECTRICAL ENGINEER'S REPORT.
Ouring .past month 14 new connections were put on and twenty-six applications received. Work on new transmission line delaye.l early in month by wet weather; "food progress /made during past two weeks, and line now completed from power-hoti-e across Smart Road and along Maugorei Road to Waiwaka Tefwc. Contractors for traimvavs began erection of poles on Friday week, and some of the staff had been employed fittings arms to take electric wires. Expect to transfer some wives to these poles as srym as span wires are put in. Advice received that material required ■or lighting traimvay route now landing at Wellington. Wire- and cables for switchboard and feeder connection being delivered. Have received 300 meters ordered in January last, and ire testing same. Wiring of new subwell forward. JfiUMWAY BIMLDINfiS. The Tramways Committee reported.— The question of the sand drift on the Breakwater Road was referred to the Works Committee; that upon Messrs. Shaw and Payne, contractors for the carshed buildings, signing undertaking submitted by architects and consulting engineer giving necessary certificate, the contractors be paid 5 per cent, maintenance money, amounting to £llß los: that chairman of Reserves Committee be authorised to arrange for removal of cabbage trees at r-arshed site, at no cost to tramways department. ELECTRIC' LIGHT COMMITTEE.
The committee reported.—That plate'dass fronts in sub-station buildings be insured in United Office; that committee could not adopt recommendation of electrical engineer to replace dear glass sirb-station office windows with obscured glass; that architect be instructed to arrange that one of windows in drawing ofliee sub-station building be made to open, cost not- to exceed .CIO; that Messrs. Skelton and Hawkins be informed that, provided they would enter into an undertaking to satisfaction of boroilgli solicitors, that net revenue from tw 0 connections for a period of live years should not be less than .ClO- per annum, council will, as -non as po-sible after new transmission ir.e was in n;c. make necessary conditions to enable their property.
