VETERANS' ASSOCIATION.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual general meeting of the Taranaki 'branch of the Royal Xew Zealand Association of his Majesty's Veterans was held in the Borough Council Chambers on Saturday afternoon. There was a. good attendance, and Colonel Ellis (vice-president) was in tiie chair.
Tiie balance-sheet showed a credit of £i 13s lOd, and it was mentioned tiiat £3 10s had come to hand since it was made up. Liabilities were nil. On the motion of the chairman, tiie balance-sheet was adopted. Colonel Ellis remarked that several members had not paid their subscriptions, and he mentioned that eight of the association's members had passed away since the last asnual meeting. The election of office bearers resulted as follows:-Vice-president, Colonel Ellis (reelected): delegates to the annual conference, Lieutenant Humphries and Mr. H. Arden (reelected); honorary secretary. Captain J. Black (re-elected)'; honorary treasurer, Captain J. S. MoKellar: honorary auditor, Mr. 0. P. Robinson; general 'committee, Messrs. Ad. lam, Wells, Oliver, Brooking, Kcnynn, Oxenham and Mace (nil fc-elected).'
J. H. Walker was accorded a voti; of thanks fov his services, and fiiptail! Black (secretary) was grantod a bonus of £3, After soma discussion ns to liow Waireka Day should be celebrated, ifc was ievolved to hold a general meeting in February to discuss the matter, and it was also decided that (provided the date should be suitable to Archdeacon Evans) to hold a church parade at St. Mary'* Ohurcll on September 5, in memory of those who fell at To Ngutu o te Mann. A vote of thanks to the officers of the branch for their work during the past year closed the meeting.
