ELEVEN NATIONS INVOLVED. POSSIBLE PARTICIPANTS. The following table shows the nations now engaged in the present great war, the dates on which they declared war, and an estimate of the population of each. A rough calculation by means of these figures indicates that no less than 500,000,000 people are all'ected by ihe war, excluding the non-European population of the British Empire:

Greece is in strong sympathy with the Allies, but the mutual jealousies of the Balkan Stalls and a confused political situation have frustrated her efforts to reform the Balkan League and add its armies to those of the Allies.
