TAILORS' AWARD.' By Telegraph.—Press Association. Gisbonie, Yesterday. Thi! This was one of the trades in which the stress of war must be felt. People could exercise economy by purchasing factory suits. Evidence was given tiy fiiaborne waster tailors and bv Messrs Hobbs (Christ-t-lmreli) and Nicholas (Auckland) that tailoring proper was dying out; and .ts place being taken by high-class factory work, it being the old story of the triumph of machinery over hand work.. The system was developed considerably in America, where Su to INI per cent, ot the men wear ready-made clothes. Mr. Fymes quoted to show the diminishing value of the trade, and that a good many master t*ai!ors bad gone out of business. Mr. Ilnllen, appearing for the workers, said lie had,not; conn, prepared to fight for a dominion award, and the court decided it would be better to have the matter fought out in C'hristehurch later A COMPENSATION CLAIM. The Arbitration Court delivered judgment in a claim for compensation against the Kant Coast Rabbit Board/lodged by the widow of a rabbi ter who was killed by a fall over a 'cliff on New Year's Pay, whilst engaged in bunting goats to provide food for his dogs. The defence urged that, being a holiday, the accident arose, outside the scope of deceased's employment. The court held that the accident did arise out of his employment, and judgment was given for the amount claimed, .£312 and costs.
