HEAT SIIIPMEXT HELD UP. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Yesterday. Australian purchasers of fat stock "lmtl arranged to .-hip to Sydney, by tin' Riverina to-morrow. head of fat stock, but it appears that there is a prospect of tlic shipment being he'd up. The Auckland Butchers' Association drew the attention of the Premier to' the .proposed shipment, and received reply that, according to the (lazelte of duly 2!>. no sheep or cattle could be exported without the consent ol' the Minister of Customs. So far 110 such consent has been obtained for the Kiverina shipment, WESTPORT HARBOR BOARD. Westporf. Last Night. At a special meeting of the Weslport Harbor Board, Mr. P. F. Munro took strong exception to statements that h.v.l got into circulation in some newspapers, giving the impression that the Westport Harbor Board was in a state of bankruptcy, the speaker stating that this was absolutely contrary to facts, as the board had a big' easli balance and limitless assets. He instanced a field of ISO acres on the Westport-,Stockton Company's property, formerly classed by the Government as 'probably coal-bearing," and now, as a result of boring, etc.. estimated to contain nine million tons of coal, estimated to give the Harbor Boavl if all were extracted, .CfIOO.OOO, or, if only one-third Avore extracted. ;C:»00.00o. The speaker said there were many other similar coal measures in the district. The impression that had got abroad was probably due to the intention oi the board to lay up its small suction dredge, because the board found it could get better results by working the larger dredge for longer hours. Ou Mr. Munro's motion, the board resolved; "That the stati'incuts which have recently been circulated in the press of the dominion to the ell'cct tha! the board's revenue had fallen oil* to a pcrions extent and is likely to impede development of the port, is not correct. Owing to the war there is a slight decrease only in revenue, but not of sull'icient importance to cause alarm. a matter of fact, the board's cash'fund in hand amounts to £;>.!,000, and ihi; board is <|iiite satisfied there is no occasion to fear any stopping of \vorK», ! necessary for keeping the harbor op.-si and to carry on development work ill hand."
