INTO THE SEA. TURKISH RHIIN'FORCEMEXTS COMING UP. A STORY. London, August 2. Router's correspondent at the ■Dardanelles says that airmen have reported largo Turkish reinforcements, leading to the 'belief that a further attempt will be made on August 23. which is the anniversary of the proclamation of the Turkish Constitution, to drive the Allies into the sea, as Turkish aeroplane messages threatened. Aprons these threats, the authorities at Constantinople have seriously claimed that their gallant troops effected this, "'but each time the aquatic propensities of the* British enaWe them to swim ashore again and regain their positions." AYhen the attack came it took the form of squirting liquid substances into the French trenches, followed by bombs which ignited the liquid. The' French sev<nty-ftves quickly silenced the bombers. The Turks also fired a new incendiary shell, fifteen inches long, which discharged noiselessly, possibly from a catapult. Later came the attack on the salient on our extreme left, which hud been the objective of many 'unsuccessful attempts.
