FOR THE SOLDIERS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Our local ladies still continue working with unflagging energy in making comforts for our brave soldiers, their latest work being to equip a hospital bed for Trentham, to which the following contributed: Mesdames Eason and F. Riley, two pairs of sheets and pillow slips; Mrs. Stephenson, one pair draw sheets and two suits pyjamas; Mrs. Hildred, two flannel night shirts; Mrs. T. Long and Mis Long, towels; .Mrs. I.). 'Jones, one day shirt; Mrs. Hatenian (Waipuku), feeders; Mrs. J. Therkleson, slippers; Mrs. Gernhorfer, sox and sleeping sox. On the 28th inst a whole dav sewim- be was held in the hall, the fol'lowing being present: Mesdnnies J. Knowles, 1'" Riley' Stephenson, Jemison, Kcttlcwell, |)[ Jones. '!'. Long, Gernhocfer. llaTeimm (Waipuku). Kason, .1. Therkleson. Grossman, and 11. Kerr, the Misses Long and Tepler. The work consisted prineipadv in making clothing, etc., for the soldiers.
