BOXING.
MITCHELL v. MURPHY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hamilton, July 29. A match took place lust night between Syd. Mitchell (present holder) and Denny Murphy (ex-champion) for the middle-weight championship of New Zealand. Both men were remarkably fresh at the commencement of the final bout. The referee stepped into the ring and spok to the combatants, and, as the result, the final encounter was very willing, the sound of the gong saving Murphy from a knock-out. The referee a 1 nounced "no contest," remarking that neither of the men was trying.
