Maximilian Harden makes a remarkable attack on German colonial policv us constituting a bitter warning to the German people of the real lessons of the past fifteen years. He ridicules Germany's attitude in the Beer war, asserting that the Boers would not have begun the war if they had not been led astray by the Kaiser's implied promise of protection. They believed that, if the worst came to the worst, Germane would protect them.
