Mrs. Dodson (Blenheim) is the guest of her sisier, Mrs. Jas. Clarke. Mrs. Walter Uawson, who is the guest of Mrs. Frank Blundell, returns to Wellington- by this morning's mail train. Tin' engagement is announced of Miss Winifred Kussell Baker (late of Xew Plymouth, now of Heme Bay Auckland) to Mr. K. Cadnett (Bay of Plenty). Mr. Fred Cloudie (late of Messrs Surgood Sons and Kwen, New Plymouth) was married to Miss Lily Kisslmg, of Auckland, recently.
Bridge.—.Mrs. Frank Bhindoll gave u very pleasant bridge party in honor of her guest, Mrs. Walter Kuwson. Mrs. •las. Wilson was the recipient of the first prize. Amongst those present were: Mesdames H. Baily, Paul, Matthews, Xewton King, H. Russell, Jas. Wilson, K. Blundell, Hutchen, Stacker, and Miss C. Hanierton.

LVnn, navy coat and skirt, black velvet hat. theatre—Last Thursday the Stratford Operatic iSociety visited Xew 'Plymouth and gave a performance of "Merrie England" in the Theatre Royal, tout owing to the inclemency of the weather they were only supported by a half-filled house, although the proceeds were in aid of our wounded soldiers. A <|ii'et but interesting wedding took
15, when Beatrice, daughter of Mr. J. J. ■p.nuktick. of the Wairarapa.. was married to .Mr. <leorge Allardice, of J'uniho. The cereaionv was performed br the liev. liavn, o'f Juglewood. The 'bride, who was given away, in the unavoidable absence of her father, by Mr. A. K. Harding, of Puniho, wore a navy tailored military costume, with hat en suite. She was attended by little Hetty Hawkins, niece of the bridegroom, w'nu wore a white muslin frock and sash of pale blue. Mr. Jack Harding acted as best man. The'bridegroom', present.to the bride was a handsome gold baiig'e, and to the 'bridesmaid a necklace of pearls. Tlie bride's present to the bridegroom was a dressing ease. After afternoon tea had been partaken of the happy couple left for Hawera, en route to Hawke's liny and the Wairarapa.
On the 21st inst., at the Methodist Cliurih. Opunake, the wedding was solemnised of Aliss Cook, eldest daughter of Mr. and Airs. I'. Cook, Oaonui, and Air. If. (!. Silley, eldest son of Air. and Mrs. (Silley, of Awatuna. The Kev. Tinsley oOiciated. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked winsome in an ivory satin gown, trimmed with guipure lace and folded belt, and tlic customary veil and orange blossoms. The bridesmaids were Alisses E. Cook (sister of the bride) and D. .Silley (sister of the bridegroom). They wore white silk with overdress of ninon, and white embroidered hats to match. The bridegroom was attended by .Messrs I". J. Young (best man) and If. Cook (groomsman). A reception'was afterwards held at the residence of the bride's parents. Air. and Mrs. Silley left by motor for New en route for Auckland, where the honeymoon wiil he spent. The bride's travelling dress was a navy blue costume, with black fox furs (the gift of the bridegroom) and black velvet hat to match. The great number of presents, including cheques, testified to the popularity of the young couple.
At the Kltbam Presbyterian t'liui'c'i last week the wedding took place of Air. W. Alortlock. eldest son of Airs. 'Mortloek. of Te Roti, to Aliss Leila Beatrice Louisa Perrv, eldest diiugiir -r of Air. and Airs. Thomas rerrv, of Alangato'ki.
