LLOYD GEORGE'S APPEAL.

WORK RESUMED.

London, July 21. Mr. Lloyd George, addressing the delegates at Cardiff, congratulated the community and the Empire on the settle- ' ment. It was a horror for him to have to take part in a struggle with his best friends. He was sure we did not yet realise I how tremendous was the country's struggle, the isues of which would affect us for untold generations. It was 'urgent that the miners should make up 'for lost time. France was depending 'on them for coal. France had done more for democracy than anyl other land 'on the earth. She was now begging 'them to send coal. He also wanted them to do it for the British navy, to fill 'their bunkers. It meant an inviolable Britain; it meant a Britain which -with ' their help could defy the most potent enemy in the world. "I am sick at heart," said Mr. Lloyd George, "at having to call attention to the gravity of the situation, which is sufficiently serious to call for the united ' action ot every man and woman in Die country. If we work together we shall win a victory for European liberty such ] as will resound throughout the world! for ages." THE STRIKE AT. KRUPP'S.
