ALLIES ADVANCE. SIR JQHX FRENCH'S REPORT. Received July 21, 0.25 p.m. London, July *2l. Sir John French reports that on the evening of the 10th, after exploding a mine, west of Chateau Hooge, we occupied ioO yards of the enemy's trenches, and captured fifteen prisoners and two machine-guns, and destroyed two other machine-guns. We have since consolidated our gain.
HILL SIXTY. NOW OF -NO IMPORTANCE. Received July 21, 10.13 p.m. London, July 21. Mr. Hobhouse said he was present at the capture of Hill Sixty, ft salient projecting into the German lines. The concentrated fire made it impossible for troops to remain upon the hill, and it was essential that the withdrawal should not be known by the Germans. Afterwards, Hill Sixty ceased to be of military importance, and that is probably why it v. as not mentioned in earlier despatches to the War Office. RHEIMS AGAIN BOMBARDED. FRENCH AVIATORS ACTIVE. Four airoplancs bombed the station at Challerange Junction and dropped -IS shells. The Press Bureau states ithnt n I French air squadron on the morning of the 2oth dropped eight 1 "iO-niillimetre (liin.) shells and three 00mm. (:|,(iin) shells on Colinar stations. None were dropped on the_ town. The machines returned undamaged. GERMAN AKTILI.F.RV BCSY. ~ r ' " Paris. July 20. A communique reports: The violent bombardment continues round Sottehez, Neuville. and St, Yaast. There is a lively cannonade in the Aisnc Valley. SoisSons has been bombarded.
