Tlii' Ifawera male quartette (Messrs Seaile. Tarrant,. Whitehorn and Sutton) were immense, :hk! the gem of the vocal portion of tlif programme. "Comrades in Arms," their lirst item, received a great ovation. They were equally p!oa-ing in their other items-. Mr. Pringle lias a very mellow voice, his rendering of '"Somewhere a Voice is Calling" mc'ting with great favor. Mr. 1\ ingle will be assured of a good roception on his next a>ppearancp. Song* bv -Mis. 11. I'. Williams. "England's Call," and Miss L. Edwards, "1 ry Cinnamon Tivi-." wvro wol! received. '.Mrs. Ross, of Wanffiinui, contributed a al monologue. and K ■lly, of Ifawera, a recitation.

The audience throughout was most enthusiastic, and too much praise cannot ihe bestowed on the promoters and performers. The orchestra, comprising Mrs. .1. K. MiU-hcll, Mrs. Edwards and Miss A. Jac-om'h. added greatly to the siicce-s of tile performance. The Wounded 'Soldiers' Fund will be augmented by about £7O. Most of the item's are to be staged ait Wanganiti on Thursday next, at a big entertainment arranged by the orphans of Wa.iiganui. Arrangements are also being .made for the above perfonnirtice to be produced at liawera at an earlv date.
