Clifton forwards again became troublesome, but a line kick by Skipper and a mark by Ryder stemmed the tide. A little later Martin just got down in time to force in the fact of a hot Clifton rush. A mis-kick by Abbott gave Tukapa an advantage, which Loveridge was quick to seize, and, beating hii vis-a-vis, kicked lii'Ji, but Brown was there and saved. Tukapa had the best of tin' resultant mix up, which ended in a force. Carrol!. Karly, and AVard wi re responsible for Tukapa again attacking, but Roberts broke away, Martin marking. I'lay hovered about inidfield, where Tukapa were given a free kick. Tli >y kicked high and followed up. but Roberts, who had never made a mistake, marked again. Another rousing rush by Clifton had Tukapa penned on their line, and an infringement gave Roberts another shot, which fell short. Martin and Ryder transferred play to Clifton's twenty-five by useful line kicks. The übiquitous Huberts, however, again caul 1 to the rcsciir and averted the trouble.
