A total sum of £25,000 will thus be raised and the Wellington branch of the Patriotic Society has decided that, after the deduction of expenses, an equal division of tlie proceeds shall be made between the four military districts of the Do-minion-Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury, and Otago. The art union lias therefore been made a matter of nationill interest, instead of being limited to Wellington. To Mr. 1). .McLaren has been enrusted the management of the whole affair, and this gentleman will, 011 Monday, make a start with the distribution of tickets in the Wairarapa district.
