THE WEATHER.
FORECAST. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Lust Night. Following is Mr. Bates' weather summary for the past twenty-four hours; Moderate to strong south-easterly winds have predominated in the North and northcrlies in the South Island. The weather has improved generally to-day, but cloudy skies are still much in evidence, and scattered showers have been reported in the northern districts. Little change in atmospheric pressure lias taken place. Forecast: —Present indications are for moderate to strong south-easterly to easterly winds northward of New Plymouth and Napier, and freshening northcrlies elsewhere. Expect fair to cloudy weather generally, but unsettled at times, with passing showers in the northern and southerinost districts, and also on the west coast of the South Island. The barometer will probably fall temporarily in the south for a squill area due to pass shortly.
