COALITION CABINET.
FOUR KEATS EOR THE LIBERAL''. (J!y Wire.—Own Correspondent.) Wellington, Last Night. No news has come to hand regarding the coalition negotiations since th" Prime Minister announced last night that he had been authorised by tlu» Govhe is not prepared to discuss further the the Leader of the Opposition. It in assumed that Mr. Massey is going to make a new proposition to Sir Joseph Ward, who has indicated clearly th.it lie is not prepared to discuss further the original oiler of three seats for the Opposition in a Cabinet of nine Ministers. One may guess that the new offer will be four seats against five to be held by the Keform party, and there is a great deal of curiosity regarding the reply of the Leader of the. Opposition. The position from the point of view of the Liberals admittedly is one of extreme difficulty. They are anxious to assist the Government in all matters pertaining to the war, but the creation of a Coalition Government seems to involve inevitably the splitting of the party and the ending of the present alliance with Labor. Some politicians are pointing to what happened in Australia when the leaders of the old parties entered into a coalition.
