The attendances at schools in the Il&wke'g Bay district has suffored fta t-lia result of an epidemic of influent and measles. In a number of schools tlu; percentage of children affected by the latter wag so largo that the schools had been temporarily closed, In this week's Gazette notice is given that the notice dated December 21, 1910, appearing in the New Zealand Gazette, stating the terms upon which a bonus of £IO,OOO will be paid for the production of mineral oil, is amended as fol-lows:—-(a) In lieu of the provision in paragraph 1 (c) i* the notice, that £2soo'will be paid ou proof being submitted that not less than 1,000,000 gallons of marketable crude oil lias been won, it is hereby provided that £11250 will bo paid on proof being submitted that not less than 750,000 gallons of marketable crude oil has been won. and that £ 1250 will be paid on similar proof that not less than 1,000,000 gallons of marketable, crude oil ha« been won. (b) The date within which the claim to the aforesaid bonus must be made, and the conditions duly fulfilled, as required by paragraph 3of the said notice, is extended to December 31, 1915.
