MASTEg BUTCHERS' CONFERHNQS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston N., July 8. A con fare nee of master butchers of the Dominion was held here yesterday, when there was a largo attendance. Mr. Wi C. Hampton (Wellington) presided. It was decided that a federation of master butchers be formed; that the Government be asked to increase tlie compensation for condemned stock to 75 per cent.; that the vendor b# compelled to pay a share of the los» en condemned stock; and that tho Government make an appeal to farmer* to husband breeding Btock in view of incrowing the Dominion's herds. LABOR CONGRESS. Wellington, July 8. Tho Labor Congress to-day was attended by Labor M.P.'s, who gave short addresses. A motion asking tho Congress to discuss the matter of tho refusal of Mr. Justice Stringer to give preference to unions which went on strike was carried. On the motion of the Auckland General Laborers' Union, it wag decided to emphatically protest against the action of various new arbitration unions in closing their books against legitimate workers, thus nullifying lha main principle of the Arbitration Act. The conference was of opin- J ion that this action was supported by the Government. A motion in favor of daylight baking was carried unanimously. The committeo that was appointed to report on foodstuffs and exploitation recommended'that the Congress enter an emphato protest against the continued and increasing exploitation, whioli was mora dangerous and inexcusable at this time of national crisis, also that the inactivity and incompetence of the Government to protect our people merits the severest censure. The recommendation was adopted.
