It wad due largely to economic causes, and the Act is affording means for speedy trials. A number of cases of like character have occurred iri the Backarganj district of Bengal. Prices ttre pftill MgH, fhit Government action has relieved the pressure. The favorable rains should assist a trade revival, though it is hampered (by high freights. The wild n'lrtftrs which marltod the outbreak of the war are noticeably fewer, and there is general confidence in the ultimate - success of the Allies.
