CAMPAIGN IN EAST AFRICA. DETAILS OF A RECENT ATTACK. SUCCESS OF A BRITISH FORCE. Received Julv 1, o p.m. London, June 3</, The Press Bureau reports details of the lighting near Lake Victoria Nyanza. One British force went in steamers from Kisunui, which is 2-10 miles from Bukoba, and another force proceeded from the Ivagera River through thirty miles of swampy country. The combination of attack was most difficult, but it was successfully accomplished. The attack was completed on the 22m1. Fortified houses and other defences at Bukoba were destroyed. The. enemy was reinforced during the action, bringing its strength, to 400 rifles. The enemy made a most determined resistance, the. Arabs especially fighting with the utmost bravery, but they were heavilv outnumbered. Eventually the whole force fled, utterly demoralised, e The casualties were not known, hut we found sixteen killed and thirty: wounded.
