DELAY AT .PORT CHALMERS. Tlie hospital ship would have reached Wellington some days ago if the original arrangement had been tarried into effect without a Intcli. liiit there has been delay at Port Chalmers, where the Malieno is being littal for her new duties, the work having proven more difficult and extensive tiian was anticipated. Probably the vessel will be ready to leave Port Chalmers at the end of this week or the beginning of next week. The Minister for Di'fenee mentioned yesterday that the work requiring to be done after the arrival of the Maheno at Wellington would be likely to occupy ' four or five days, so that the hospital ship would not be able to leave New Zealand waters probably for a fortnight yet. The medical stall' there would he ready to begin the equipment of the ship as soon as she arrived.
