The Prime Minister, when asked this afternoon if he hud any comment to make upon the Imperial proposals for obtaining subscriptions from the overseas dominions to the British war loan, ( ■ replied that all he could say -was that New Zealanders would have ample opportunity soon for investment in this country, 'Asked if this had reference to the future loan proposals of the Government, Mr. Massey replied in the affirmative. I THE GOVERNMENT'S INTENTIONS. GOOD INVESTMENT PROMISED. : ; (By Wire—Own Correspondent.) Wellington, Last Night. During the last day or two sugges- * tions have been reaching New Zealand that investors in this country should - contribute towards the great war loan ' that is being raised by the Imperial authorities. The prospectus of that loan has been cabled to the Dominion and ■ published in the newspapers, and already some local people have indicated by cablegram their intention of sub. scribing under the conditions laid down for the guidance of oversea* investors. To-day the Minister of Finance (Hon. James Allen) stated that he thought New Zealand investors would be wise to 'wait a while in order to see wY.at their own country proposed to do in connection with the raising of a war • loan. "The Government has under consideration the possibility of offering to the people of New Zealand an opportunity to invest a sum of money on a more permanent footing than the Port Office Savings Rank offers," said the Minister. '•The details have not been ' worked out fully, hut wo may be able to offer Ihe public here a chance to invest their money for definite periods on just as good terms as the Imperial authorities arc offering, without the necessity of paying exchange." The Minister added that information: had reached him that some people in this country were arranging to subscribe to the Imperial war loan, and he thought, it fair to indicate to them that there might be a favorable opporunity for. investment within the Domiuii.n in the near future.
