; THE PICTURE OF EVEN PARTIES. (By Wire.—Special Correspondent.) Wellington, Last Night. While the members of the House of I Representatives were being sworn in this : afternoon the galleries had a good opportunity of surveying the new House. One important change was noticed at once by the spectators who remembered the House of Representatives of last year. There were now few vacant scats on the Opposition benches. The Oovernment's lack of a well defined majority meant that the members were distributed evenly all round the chamber. Sixteen new members were taking their seats, but they included a band of old Parliamentarians who were returning 'to the scenes of former labors after more or less extended absences. On one of the back Opposition benches sat the Hon, Dr. McXab, who was Minister of Lands in the Ward Ministry, when he lost the Mataitra seat in .1 lifts. Mr. J.
