At the Town Board meeting on Monday strong objection was raised to toe suggested delivery of letters in the township through the rural delivery. The suggestion is a most ridiculous one. Letters received in ■{.'!io 'Xoi'inau'by Post Office from (lie south by the mail train would be sorted and again forwarded to Hawera and delivered by means of the rural delivery from -Hawera about' ]0 o'clock: next morning. The Board resolved to solicit the help of the member for the district, Mr (!. V. Pearce, in securing a letter-carrier for Xormanby, The Bniil'd should have gone one further and applied for a post office in the township. It is to t'iie Board that the tO'Wiv■people are looking for a 'cad in this matter. Five Normanby boys have fallen at the Dardanelles, their'names being: Privates E. T>. iR. "Morrison, Kennelli W. Croat svmpat'hy is expressed for tht bereaved, but tfliey all died in a noble cause.

' The Weather here has been br.iken and' stormv during the past ton days, and to-day it is again raining heavily. Some of the dairy fanners who made no provision for a rainy day are feebng anxious about feed for their stock, Jhe feed is 'very scarce at present. The question 0 f merging into the Hawera County Council was not discussed at the Town Board meeting on Monday, and it is evident that us far as the Town Board members are concerned the matter will be dropped for the present, at any rat*. Some of the large ratepayers, however, intend going on with a petition from tlic ratepayers asking to be merged into the County Council, and they are determined to insist upon the matter being decided at the poll.
