NEW MEDICAL SERVICE.
TO CONTROL WOUNDED SOLDrKRS. DR. VALINTINE IN CHARGE. ' By Telegraph.—Press Association.' Wellington, Last Night, The Minister of Defence states that new arrangements have been mslße fat connoetion with the medical branch ol the defence service. v Dr. Valintine, the present InspectorGeneral of Public Health, becomes Director of Military Hospitals, with full control over all matters connected with the treatment of sick and wounded soldiers within the dominion. Colonel Purdy, the present Director of Medical Services, will confine his attention mainly to the territorials, tho troopships, and the examination of recruits. ' -.' .' The two officers will be associated fn the appointment of medical men to tho defenco service. In order that the public health point of view may bo considered as well as the purely military one, it is necessary to guard against tha depletion of the medical service within* the dominion.
