HACK FROM SAMOA. Auckland, June 21. The passengers from Samoa, by the Atua include Captain Roache, sth Wellington Regiment, two nurses, nine noncommissioned officers and men of the Sainoan garrison. Of the nurses -Matron Broolce and Sister Willis are joining the hospital ship, the Maheno. Captain Roache is recovering from typhoid, and Privates E. Foley, W. J. Barter, J. Davidson, 11. J. Roberts, and E. D. Elcock have been invalided home. StaffSergeant Hale, Quartermaster-Sergeant Dyer, Field Cashier 1). Moroney, and Private -W'litford have been transferred to duty at Wellington. The new garrison at Samoa appears to have settled down to work. RETURNING 'WOUNDED. Auckland, June 21. Dr. Yalintine advised the Hospital Board that 203 wounded are arriving by the Willoehra. 'Some (probably 22) will 'be sent to Auckland, and the department looks to the hospitals to provide the. necessary accommodation for the wounded as they arrive. He adds that the Government will pay a maintenance fee if it is desired. WOUNDED MEN IN EGYPT. Wellington, June 21. The Governor cabled to LieutenantGeneral Maxwell, the officer commanding the troops in Egyipt, asking if there is a.ny truth in t'-ie rumor that there was insufficient hospital accommodation for the New Zealand wounded. He received a reply stating that there was ample accommodation and to spare. The men received full treatment. The Governor also cabled to the Secretary of State for the Colonies, asking for information regarding t'hose soldiers reported missing. Mr. Bonar Law replied stating that the Turkish Government had agreed to establish an information bureau, but its proceedings appeared to he slow. Particulars would be cabled as soon as received. FUNDS WANTED IN CAIRO. WaugHiiui, June 21. A reply received here by LieutenantColonel Hughes, in answer to inquiries cabled to Cairo, does not hear out the reports of the Governor and the Hon. J. Allen. The, cable states that no funds art available for the wounded at Cairo, and financial assistance is urgently wanted. A similar letter was previously received here from OaptainChaplain Blamires, on receipt of which flOft was cabled.
