DEATHS OF SOLDIERS.
INTERESTING LAW POINT. By Telegraph.—lVss Association. Gisbonic, Last Night. At the Supreme Court in Chambers today, a motion for probate in the will of' Malcolm Hugh Campbell, a trooper, who had died on a troopship leaving New Zealand. cj*ne before Mr. Justice Cooper. His Honor stated that he had 110 proof of death. All the proof before him was a signed statement by a military officer, stating that the trooper had died at sea. 'flow eould this officer know whether the man had died or not? His Honor added he bad already suggested that pulses should Isold a conference and determine what proof of death was necessary. The matter was important, 11s tliev could expect a good many deaths of New Zealanders while the war lasted, and it was essential that they should have absolute proof of death. His Honor .adjourned the motion until proof of death had been supplied.
