FITZROY CLCB. ANN CAT. MTCHTIXG. The annual general mooting of members of tin- Fitzroy Bowling Club was hold ill the- Club's Pavilion last night, ilr. F. IT. Jac-kson presiding. REPORT AND JJALAXCE-SIIEKT. The annual report was as follows: Your committee, in presenting the tonth animal report, lias to congratulate the club on having had a fairly prosperous and very enjoyable season. The membership has been practically stationary, about equalling that of the previous season. which was a record in this respect. We feel sure that the advent of the trams in the near future will have the tendency to materially increase our membership. The improvements effected by the members last season, by lower-

in»- tin? footpaths, etc., liavc been very much appreciated. Unfortunately, the croquet jrreen, owin<r to the very dry season, was not available for play, but it has received a {rood (leal of attention and promises to be ready this cornill" season, flub matches were played a<*ainst St. John's, Stratford and Eltiimn ('Tubs, when we recorded a win in eacli instance. An all.dav match was played at Jii-lewood on Good Friday. As usual, when"plavinft at Tuple-wood, those partaking had a specially good time. Til a I third invitation of the Stratford Clu'b ,

to plav an all-day match on Easter Mondav could not be accepted, because of the wet weather. The club champion turned up in Mr. 11. Trice, who thororoughly deserved his win. having played a fine game all through the season. The runner-up, Mr. F. Bellringcr, is to lie congratulated 011 getting to the final, as he is comparatively a new player. Two teams from this club took part in the Wanganui tournament, one of which was runner.up for the championship. We oiler our congratulations to the We.st End Club for the great record (put up bv it last season, both locallv and at the Wanganui tournament." The green warden, Mr. S. Smith, has had the' entire management of the rrreen and has helped your committee, vfi'v considerably in this connection, lie'has also taken a lot of'interest in the Saturday players, with the result that those of our members who only plav on Saturdays are very much better'catered for than formerly. A word of praise is due to the caretaker foi the good work done by him on the green and the ground generally. Cenerally speaking, the financial position of the cWb is satisfactory. The balance in hand is about £7 less than last year, but this difference is more than accounted for by the expiring of the lease of the tennis courts, whrcii have been bringing in £ - 20 annually for some years. We beg to offer the' deepest sympathy of the club to Mr. and Mrs. T. G. Sole and Mr. Coxhead in the loss of their son and wife respectively. In conclusion, we would like to place on record our appreciation of the good work done by the secretary, who has rendered very valuable assistance to the cliiib during the time he lias held that office. The balance-sheet showed receipts (including credit balance of £lB Is 3d from the previous year) as £lO9 10s, su:bseriptions accounting for £IOB, while the expenditure amounted to £157 3s 3d, leaving a balance of £ll 13s 3d to be carried forward. The chairman, in moving the adoption of the report and balanee-slieet. pointed out that, owing to giving up the tennis courts, the income was £33 10s less than in the previous year, and he considered that, the club had <lonc well in keeping the green in very Rood order at such a small expense. What the club wanted was a large addition to its membership, and he had no doubt that the advent of the trams would be a great benefit to the club's membership. Mr. \S. Smith pointed out that next year the croquet ground would be available and would increase the clu'b's revenue, and he congratulated the committee on its excellent work. Mr. F. C. -T. Bellringcr considered that the standard of "plav was the primary consideration, and in that matter the club had every reason for, satisfaction. The report and balance-sheet were then adopted. ELECTION- OF OFFICERS.

The election of officers resulted:—President, Mr. F. IT. Jackson (re-elected); vice-presidents, .Messrs. 0. Oxenham, Ji. •Dingle, T. G. Sole and S. Smith; committee, Messrs. $.
