THE HUNT.
MKET AT SLXTRY HILL. In spite of the inclemency of the weather yesterday a fairly good number of hunting enthusiasts turned up at Mr. F. Sampson's at Sentry Hill for the weekly meet of the hounds. Exceptionally heavy rain set in about 12.:-fO, and continued on till after '2 p.m., during part of winch time the visitors were partaking of a very substantial luncheon provided by Mr. Sampson. As the rain clouds lifted unexpectedly, it was decided, on the recommendation of Mr. and Mrs. Sampson and President 10. W. Whoatley, to throw oil' the hounds, anil two really good runs took place, resulting in no kill. The wire fences had been well sparred, and the gorse fences were trimmed, the jumping being of a very high order, ami not one. spill took place. Before leaving the homestead for the hunting field, which was some distance away, Deputy Master B. 11. Chancy proposed a vote of hearty thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Sampson for their hospitable and cheerful welcome on such a wintry day. This was followed by three hearty cheers for the host and hostess. Mr. Sampson, in responding, i gave a pressing invitation to the club' to return to-morrow, on which day lie hoped there would be tine weather. It was decided to have another hunt tomorrow, and it is hoped that as many i members as possible will make a point] of being present. This will be ospesi- > ally advantageous to those who have horses to qualify for the forthcoming hunt race meeting. Only straight-goers were present, and these included Deputy Masters Chancy, Mason, Ilookliam, K Stockman, F. Stockman, P. Sampson, Huntsmen X. Pepperill and Whip (E. Pepperill), Laing, Davis, Bishop, Bailey, Max Lepper, Ellerm, Johnson. K X. Sampson, R. It. Pepperill, and Fulton. (
