PARIHAKA ROAD BOARD MATTERS.
To the Editor
Sir.—f see by your n'port of the la*t that the chairman is a,moved at my statement that the metalling on the Kaliotil road wes "disgracefully done.''' 1 sliil maintain that such was the case-, the job reflecting no credit on (lie hoard's management. As 1 staled at the previous meeting, every particle of stone was carefully thrown aside am! nothing but sandy stuff put on the road, which cut right through in places from tiie traiiic of only oik; milk tart in lc;s than three weeks' time. Now, "Mr. Editor, if a newly-metalled road cuts through in that time with scarcely any traffic, what van any sane person call iS other tlian disgracefully done? Tim chairman also stated that the Rahotu road was one of the best in tlie district. If such were the case, it seems rather peculiar tliat the day after the meeting of the Hoard that I attended, one of the Board's employees was sent down with horse and dray to fill in the ruts with broken stone, evidently having received orders to 'put decent metal on t'.ie road. —I am, etc., * V.
