THE NAJPTER MANSLAUGHTER CASE.

Napier, June HI. Mr. Dolan, counsel for Alice May Parkinson, who was sentenced to imprisonment for life for the manslaughter of Albert West, has filed notice of his intention to move for an order of the Court .reserving for the opinion of the Court'of Appeal questions of law (I) regarding alleged misdirection of the jury; (2) the, alleged presence of two police constables and a civilian (a, cater,, er) in the jury room during the ttm£i the jury retired to deliberate' on their verdict.

ASSAULTED WITH WATER.

Christchurch, June 15.

As a sequel to the repeated complaints of people on the whai/f of heing deluged with, water, James Rufl'et, a fireman on the Wahine, was charged at Lyttelton Court to-day with assault. A detective said that he had seen accused squirting water through a. porthole. 'The Bench inflicted a fine of 30a and costs, and severely warned accused.
