NEWS FROM NEAR AND FAR. Hawera will play Patea at Haivera to day. A foiir ball bogey match will be played on the New Plymouth Club's links next Saturday. In the second round of tho Medley Gup, played at IWitiora this week, the best scores returned were:—H. Smith 89—17—72, E. Gilmour 92—15—77, V. H. Veale 94—17—77, W, H. Broome 90—12—78, J. S. S. Medley. A. H. Oorney 108—25—83. Next Thursday there will be an interesting match at Waiwakaiho. Mr. A. S. Hasell has presented prizes for a medal handicap open to any Taranaki golfer with a standard handicap, and the proceeds of the entrance fee of 2s Gd will go to the National Fund for wounded New Zealanders. Entrance tickets may bo obtained from Mr A. Bewley and Mr A. K. Smart, and it is hoped golfers will purchase tickets whether they can play or not, and so contribute towards a deserving object. * » » At Witiora on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons the second round for the aggregate prize was played over fourteen holes. The best scores were:—Mrs. Pike, 98—30—68; Mrs. Buxton, 103—30—73; Miss K. Bennett, 108—35—73; Miss Rundle, 88—13—75; Miss O. Ambury, 114—35—79; Miss Furlong, 110—30—80. Next Thursday ladies' foursomes will bo played. Partners and opponents will be drawn. Entries close on Tuesday afternoon, at the pavilion, or with any member of the committee. To-day a match will bo played tit Witiora' between teams representing the New Plymouth Club and the Witiora Club. The New Plymouth team is: J. V. Ritchie, W. C. Weston, F. S. Johns, A. Bewley, E. S. Bayley, A. 11. Steeds, W. P. Nicoll, J. Paton, W. G. Douglas, H. J. Dodson, I). Hutchen, R. T. M'Quade, H. M'Clelland, J. Austin, J." D. Scott, Hutton, Bloxam and Rev Chappell.
