THE WINTER SHOW.

CONCLUSION OF PRIZE LIST.

"CHILDREN'S DAY."

There was again a large attendance at the winter show yesterday, and yisi- , tors continue to express their apprecia- . tion of the display provided. During the afternoon the hall was crowded with children, it being children's day, when the little ones are admitted at a reduced rate. The schools closed in order to allow them to take advantage of this privilege. They wandered throughout the exhibition expressing admiration of everything they saw, and there is not the slightest doubt but that all spent a good time. The weather fortunately continues fine, and there appears every reason to anticipate a record attendance to-day. The farewell to the troops who are leaving for Trentham on Monday morning will also add to the attraction this evening. The following is the conclusion of our report of the prize list:— BIRDS. Any variety cage. bird.—W. A. O'Donnell (New Plymouth) 1. CATS. Best self-color cat—Newton Roch (New Plymouth) 1. Best tubby cat—A. W. Moverly (New Plymouth) 1; W. Goodwin (New Plymouth) '2; Kathleen Cummins (New Plymouth) v.h.c; Charlie Coleman (New Plymouth) v.h.c. Anv other variety cat —Miss G. Hawcs (New- Plymouth) 1. Host black or white—S. Brooks (New Plymouth) 1. Best Persian—Miss Olive Shaw (New Plymouth) 1; C. Roch (New Plymouth) 2. Best any other variety—Mrs. R. Ritchie (Inglcwood) 1. CLOSES TO-NIGHT. To-day will be the last opportunity of visiting the show. At O.ltO this evening there will be a sale of goods donated for tho benefit of patriotic funds, and the draw for the handsome patriotic quilt will take place. There is every probability of a record attendance. The Citizens' Band will again play a selection of music outside the building.
