LONDON MARKETS. By Telegraph.—Tress Association. Wellington, June 7. The following is the High Commissioner's cablegram, under date London, June 5 (Note: Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot):— ! .U.eat.—The market is cNvitcd, and prices are advancing rapidly, owing to the short supply. Up to the present, the 'Government has placed only a small quantity of the. surplus meat on the market. Mutton: Canterbury, 7d for light-weight, ordinary quality (\%i\, ewes fi%d. 'Lamb: Canterbury,'s-y,d for all weights, second grade, S',/,d; other than Canterbury S%d, best quality lightweight second grade BMil. Beef: New Zealand, nominal quotations, hinds Sd, fores «%(!.- Tim supply of chilled falls short of the demand. Hinds l)d, fores V/A.

Butter.—The mark'. '; quiet and at a decline. .During V • week prices for colonial declined 2s to 3s; Danish, Ills to M-8s; New Zealand, 140s to 112s, exceptionally 1445; Australian, 138s to 14125; Siberian, in good demand, at 130s to li34s; Argentine, Wis to 130s; Irish creamery, 134s to 13fls.

Cheese— The market remains firm, but there, w less demand. Canadian is in good demand; this season's make white and colored flls to ftSs; New Zealand 'firm, white and colored OR* to ,100s; English Cheddar, this season's make, <)Bs 'to 102s, according to quality and size; Australian, none o lie ring. Tt is estimated that the Canadian and United States icliee.se stocks at London, Liverpool and Bristol on June 1 were (53,500 boxes, chiefly United States fiats, against 33.000 boxes at the same time, last year. The New Zealand and Australian cheese stock's at London and Bristol on June. 1. were 13,200 crates, against 37,000 at the. same time last year.

Hem,]). —The market is quiet and at the decline. New Zealand, good fair grade £32 Ms, fair £3O; fair current Manila £3O; June-August shipment New Zealand good .fair £32. fair £2O 10s, Manila £3O. The output from Manila for the week was 28,000 bales.

Hops.—The market is steady and prices arc; well maintained. English, 105s to 80s; California!!, 95s to Gss.

Wool.—The market is strong and all stocks are advancing. Wheat.—The market is weak and inactive on account of the good Ameri-' can crop reports'. Canadian, shipment, 58s; American, July-Auguat, 50s Gd, August-September 50s; Argentine on passage, nominal, at 50s.

iOats. —The market is dull; Argentine in any position, 28s ftd.

TARAX T AKI WOOL, SKIN, HIDE AXD TALLOW SALES. MR. (XEWTOX -KIXG'S RETORT. At my sales-of.the above produce on June 1, I offered a catalogue <if six bale* and 52 sacks of wool, 1137 sheepskins, » casks, 45 tins and one box tallow, 52S hides and 230 calfskins, to a large attendance cJf buyers. The feature of the sale was the very 'high price realised for crutchiugs, values being practically on a par with lleaoe wools. 1 obtained ,1354(1 per lb for sack lots. Sheepskins were in keen demand and generally advanced 54d to y s d per lb. Ox hides showed a decided rise, and cow were firm, well Hayed hides showing an advance of %d to 54d per lb. Tallow again dec-lined Is lid per cwt. in sympathy with the decline recorded in London. On behalf of the Makahu Sports Committee I offered a sheepskin in aid of the Belgian Relief Fund. This- was sold and re-sold eight times, the fund benefiting to the extent: of £33 ss. Tallow—-ißest mixed, in casks 24s 3d to 24s Gd, inferior 23s to 23s fid; in tins, 21s (id to 24s 3d.
