FIRE AT WHAREROA.

TEN-ROOMED RESIDENCE DESTROYED. A. ten-roomed residence at Wharcroa, owned by Mr. .1. Cassidy, Manaia, and occupied by Mr. Arthur Nicholas, was destroyed by firo between 10 and 11 o'clock on Saturday night. When the family loft to attend the pictures in Ha-ira-a they left a small fire burning in 6ne of the rooms, and upon returning saw the placo in flames. Practically nothing was saved, although a bucket brigade endeavored to check the flames. The building was insured in the Phoenix Office for £425. The insurance on the furniture was not ascertainable. The glare of the fire was seen from Hawera. -Star.
