The Messagero says that during the aerial bombardment of Pola two Austrian battleships, manoeuvring, escaped, but collided. One was badly damaged. A" warship also struck and sank a destroyer.

An Austrian communique says the Italians had considerable losses at Montenero, Where three hundred were killed. The enemy's attempt to cross the Stronzo, near Sagrado, southward of Gradisea, was repulsed with heavy losses.

ITALIAN ADVANCE CONTINUES.

The encircling of Riva, at the head of Lake Garda, is proceeding systematically, though slowly, owing to the steepness of the mountains. The artillery at Pasubio is enabling the Italians to occupy the villages along the valley.

The Greek steamer Virginia was mined and sunk near Cape Salvore. The crew perished. During the attack- on Montoorado the Italians, by means of a few bombs, stampeded wild foufl'silocs against the Austrian entanglements, and smashed a way through.
