(By Moturoa*) The acceptances for the second day of the Great Northern meeting are very numerous and winners again look hard to pick.

The chief event is the Great Northern Steeple ran over three miles *nd a half. Bercola is top weight but his recent form does not recommend him as a stayer. Jaokman ran well in the Wanganui Steeple and should be in an improved form to-day. Golden Glowhas a jumper's chance, but may find the Ellerslie country more severe, than Avondalc. Black Northern is too much a horse of moods to warrant support, but 'Moreeambe on the strength of his showing in the Great Northern Hurdles and ffis exhibition over big country in schooling work must run wellSandy Paul got round on Thursday, and stays on fairly well. Cloudy Dawn looked well at -Wanganui, but has to be taken on trust as a steeplechaser. Waterworks and Sportsman have only a rough chance, but El Gallo h.is only to jump to prove dangerous. Jackman may be the fittest of the top weights,

and Moreeambe and Ell Gallo of tlio light weights. The chief hurdle event, the Ttemuera Hurdles, will see some good hurdlers in action. If Hereford is as good as reported, he is given a great chance, and Royal Arms is also well treated. Harbor Light, Gold Frail, Envperador, Doncaster and Hereford a.re not harshly treated in the minor events.
