DONATIONS FROM WANGANUI. Wanganni, last Niglit. T:ie local hotel-keepers this evening handed to the secretary of the Patriotic Committee a cheque for £SOO as a contribution to the national fund lor our sick and wounded. The Wanganui Jockey Club handed in a cheque for £3OO, which brings the club's contributions to the patriotic funds to well over £IOOO. INVALIDED HOME.. Wellington, Last Niglit. The steamer Wimmera from Ilobart brought a number of men of the New Zealand expeditionary force who have been invalided home. One hundred and thirty-nine men reached Australia last week, but only forty-four came on in the Wiinmera. Their names as as follow '(the units to which they belong are not available this evening):—Sergeants Brooke-Taylor and Cunningham; Corporal) Anderson, Brcthorton, Barnes, Crocker, Kinder, Stensov; Privates F. W. Anderson, Buschl, G.' \V. A. Clarke, H. L. Chambers, T. R. Duncan, C. C. Dunn, Flyger, Harrocks, Trooper Haycock, J. James, E, D. Jack, Kilminster, Lawson, Gabriel, Mann, J. King, McAndrews, O. E. Raymond, Solomon, Smeal, S. J. Smith, Thorburn, Mossip, Teaze, Winks, G. R. Willis, Withy, J. Wilkins, Campny, Johnston, Foster, Cough, Fisher, Brache, and Amos. ENEMY SUBJECTS. ' Auckland, June 4. Mr. Masscy states that the Govern'ment has decided to appoint nn ordinary board of a judicial character to deal With, exceptional cases in regard to the internment of enemy subjects. The Hon. yir 11. D. Bell was now making the necsttary arrangements. A well-known Auckland citizen had consented to take a position on the board, which Mould be of a semi-judicial character *iml would consist of three members. A DOCTOR'S GERMAN NAME. Christchurch, June 4. Dr. Sandston, who recently changed his name from .Sandstein, applied to the! Government for his passports, as lie contemplated going Home and offering his (services to the War Office. On Jihus 1 he received the following from the Un-der-Secretary for Internal Affairs: "Your letter was placed before the Minister, who, under the circumstances, agrees, to the issue of your passports in your orig- ' inal name." ' In response to an objection be received next day the following telegram: "The Government is unable to recognise a change of name during the war, and therefore will only issue the passport in your original name."
