STUBBORN GERMAN ATTACKS. REPULSED BY THE RUSSIANS. THE STRUGGLE AT PRZEMYSL. AN OBSTINATE BATTLE. MANY GERMAN PRISONERS. Received June 3, 12.40 a.m. Petrograd, June 2. Official: The enemy on the left bank of the Vistula on Sunday night developed active artillery fire on the whole front worthward of Pilitza. At four in the morning, under cover of smoke and using gas extensively, they attacked in yreat strength our position, on the Bzura near Urtkovitza, BrohoiW, Sochaczeli' and Koslow. The attack was characterised by extraordinary tenacity on the Lower Rawka. Notwithstanding gas, the fumes of which were perceptible 10 miles behind our fort, all the attacks were repulsed. The. enemy in Galicin, attacked fqrts Ko.\" to Xo. 11, westward and northeastward of Przcniysl. They approached on Sunday night within two hundred paces and gained a footing on the precincts of .Fort No. 7. There was an obstinate battle until the afternoon of Monday, when the enemy was repulsed with enoronms losses. Twenty-three officers and six hundred men who entered the fort were taken prisoner. The. Germans brought reserves into the battle at Stryc and the result is not known yet. Oiu - success at Svitza was continued. We have already sent K),(i(io prisoners to the rear, including 238 officers.

MENACING PRZEMYSL. A MILLION AUSTRO-GERMANS. - London, June 1. Petrograd reports that a million Austriiins and Germans are concentrated on 170 square miles, and are menacing Praemysl. An Austrian oflicial report states Aus-tro-German troops penetrated the Russian positions, and carried Stryc, the enemy retreating towards the Dniester.
