GRIM ITALIAN ADVANCE. THE AUSTRIANS ROUTED. IMPORTANT POSITION DESTROYED. SUCCESS OF ITALIANS. Received June 2, 11.45 a.m. Rome, .Tune 2. Mr. M. Donohoe, the war correspondent, reports that after a stiff fight of several hours, the Italians captured the heights cf Conizngra. The Austrians vainly attempted to stern, the advance, but the Italians charged grimly, and with fine bayonet work routed the Austrians. Rome, June 2. The Italians are bombarding Malborghetto, commanding the railway junction at Tarves, and ultimately joined to Klagernfurt, via Villaco. The inhabitants of Gradisca fled from the town under fire of Austrian guns. Italian artillery beyond Mossa destroyed one of the Gorizia forts. Gorizia is the key to the Austrian position covering Trieste. Official: The enemy was routed westward of the pass of Montegroge and Carnoa, leaving thirty dead and many wounded. An Austrian airship flying the Italian flag damaged the railway bridge at 11arechia, near Rimina. THE KING OF ITALY. ACTIVE PART IN THE WAR. London, -June 1. The Italian press comments on Germany's reasons for declaring war on Italy. The suggestion is made that Germany fears it will cause dissatisfaction in the already sorely demoralised armies. The press dtclarej that Austria is goading Turkey to declare war against Italy. The postponement of a rupture for a few days will enalble many Italian Consuls in Turkey to return ho'me.
