BOROUGH COUNCIL.

WORKS COMMITTEE'S RECOMMENDATIONS. At a meeting of the Works Com.i,ittee of the New Plymouth liorougH Council, the following decisions were arrived at:—That the tender for waterworks and other supplies he referred. to the chairman and his Worship the .Mayor to deal with; that tho borough inspector he authorised to grant licenses in respect to the following boarding-houses, subject to certain conditions being complied with: .Mr. Scott's boarding-housc ; Strandon; Trocadero, Egniont Street; that a Works Executive Committee, consisting of the chairman, Councillors Short and Sykes. he appointed, with power to authorise urgent works, not exceeding €lO in each instar.ee, and to report to the Works Committee on othei - minor matters arising between meeting;; that upon Mr: Qnilliam guaranlo nng a ,'.» i tribution of ;Clo towards the cost the borough engineer he authorised to extend the sewer in Vivian Street to enable Mr. Quilliam's and three other houses to be connected (estimated cost, £10); that the borough engineer be authorised to extend Lie sewer :>lni:g Gaine Street to enable .dr. Osborne's and another house to be connected (estimated cost. £l2 10s)• that th-i attention of the proprietor be drawn to the fact that the main entrance to the Theatre Royal was closed during the meeting on May 17, contrary to the conditions of the license for the building, and that he be informed that a similar state of affairs must not be permitted again; that Messrs.
