AMERICAN VESSEL ATTACKED. INDIGNATION IN AMERICA. London, May 20. The American steamer Nebraskan was torpedoed oil' the Fastnet light. The crew were saved. She was outward-bound for Delaware and forty miles off the Fastnet light. She sent a, wireless message last night calling for help, stating that she had been torpedoed and that the crew were standing by in boats. The weather was fine. An armed trawler picked up the Nebraskan, which is making for Queenstown.' The forehold is full of water. The crew returned aboard the Nebraskan, vwhich has passed Queenstown steaming slowly towards Liverpool. Received May 27, 9.5 p.m. Washington, May 27. The news of tho torpedoing of the Nebraskan caused a big sensation In official circles. President Wilson has inlitructed the Department, to cable Mr. Gerard (Ambassador in Berlin) and Mr. Page (Ambassador in London) for full reports. The Nebraska was carrying coal for the American fleet.
