'! he Public Works Department advises that tile old Railway Reserve fronting O.R.p. sections 7. 0 and 11, block T., Malioo S.U., comprising 0 acres 0 rood :i'2 perches, is to be leased to the bolder of those sections, Rasmus Anderson, on the same tenure, at a rent of ;">s petacre, Xew license to issue for the increased rental on payment of necessary fees. The Assistant-T'nder-Recretary for bands forwarded an opinion from the Crown Law odicer as to the power of 'he Land Hoard to accept surrender of leases of education reserves.—Received. Tu order to meet the terms entered into between the Public Works Department and Mr. D. M. Pitcaithlv in regard to compensation for land taken for railway purposes, it was resolved to fix the rental tor a. temporary lease of section 2!l, block TV., Xgalimaru S.D., 1 acres -2 roods P.2 perches, at IDs per annum. 'five applications for consents to mortgage were granted, subject to the usual conditions. The Stratford County engineer, with Mrs. ,T. Weyboiirne, lessee of E.R., section Hi. Wanpanni district, waited on (he board witn regard to the council's authority to remove metal from the holding for public purposes. The chairman (Mr. I'ullard) explained the position, pointing out that no lessee had the right to dispose of metal or travel by way of royalty or sale, as being a'! breach of the implied covenant, in The lease against "waste," and that any royalty on that account would lie claimed by the Department for the Endowment Fund.
