A HANDSOME OFFER.
TO HELP DESERVING CAUSES. At a meeting of the New Plymouth Patriotic. Committee last evening, the Mayor presiding, the following letter was received from Mr. E. Grilliths: — "I desire to make a donation for the benefit equally of the Belgian Relief Fund and to a fund for the benefit of disabled returned New ZcaliHiders. Provided that permission can he obtained from the Wellington authorities to dispose of the animal by means of an art union, I will give the young pedigree Jersey bull named 'JVtunia. Noble which I imported from England eighteen months ago at a cost exceeding £l3O. T would supervise and organise tile art union in a manner which, I think, would prove, highly remunerative to the fueds mentioned, and I should feel that my services in this connection would really make my gift many times greater than the cost of the bull to mo. If you accept my gift and will obtain the necessary consent from the Colonial Secretary, I will he free to' get on with the work to be done."
. The offer was accepted with licarty thanks, and the name of Mr. Griffiths was added to the committee.
