' The wool sales closed strong at the highest of tlie scries, Merinos, good to medium, and scoured* were 5 per cent, above the April level, best greasy combings par to 5 per cent, advance, average faulty sorts par. Crossbreds as a line were very (inn at April rates, medium and coarser recovered the carly decline and closed equal to April rates, flood slipes were unchanged and wasty par to 5 per cent, lower, Best scoured were at par to 5 per cent, advance. Faulty and hurry fine 7'/. per cent, lower! Best lambs firm and unchanged. Faulty merinos firm at Ilk1 l k per cent, decline. MATTHEWS 1 , OAMLIN & CO.'S REPORT. Matthews, Camlin and Co. report a small yarding of stock at their Inglewood yards on Wednesday last. Store and forward cows wore not so dull of i sale as of late, but other cattle were hard to quit. Wo quote: Springing heifers £8 to £7 12s fid, forward cows £4 15s to £5 4s, store do. £2 15s to £3 Ms, old do. 35s to £2 2s, 20-month steers £'3 ss, do. heifers 15s to 20s, bulls £4 to £5, f.m. ewes 13s 5d to 15s (id. At Omata on Wednesday I held a clearing sale on account of' Mr. Arthur Mills. There was a good attendance of the public, and all lots offered met with good competition. There were no dairy cows to oiler, but an exceptionally wellbred line of Jersey heifers bred by Mr. Mills made £lO. At Burnside best bullocks made £l3 10s to £ls 2s fid, medium £l2 to £l3, light and unfinished £8 10s to £!) 10s, best heifers to £ll ]os, medium to '£B 10s. light and unfinished to £5 10s. There was another large yarding of fat sheep, 3374 being penned. There were very few good quality wethers forward, and any such met with spirited competition, realising prices slightly in advance" of those ruling last week. Good quality ewes were in "fair demand and sold well, but unfinished ewes and wethers were neglected and were hard to place.
